Emily Tucker is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in Birmingham, Alabama.
With over 16 years experience as a mental health professional , and as a graduate of the University of Montevallo specializing in community mental health, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.
In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, Emily has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of suicide prevention, community resources, crisis risk assessment, trauma recovery.
Emily is an interactive, client-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. Emily works from the client centered model, but also utilizes other skills and techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and provides coaching for individuals and couples in therapy.
Outside of her practice, Emily enjoys activities with her family, such as hiking, biking, and traveling. She also volunteers time with local animal rescue groups and is pursuing her interest in health promotion, coaching, individual and community wellness, and healing philosophies.
Personal Philosophy on Counseling and Wellness
I have a strong intuitive ability that facilitates good communication with clients. I believe in the mind body connection, that our physical, mental, and spiritual health are intertwined. There are many paths to wellness and healing. I am honored to have the opportunity to share time with clients during their unique journey.
Experienced in crisis intervention, assessment, and prevention, I am skilled and comfortable working with a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, addiction, anger management, depression, bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, grief, adjustment to life changes and more. I also facilitate counseling for couples and offer workshops to enhance communication skills and connection within relationships. Throughout my educational, professional and personal life experience, I have also gained extensive insight into the community health resources and providers in this area.
